Hello Friends,

We are back after giving everyone’s inboxes a small break! We have lots to talk about so let’s get right into it.

Gargamel Tier

We launched our Gargamel's Exclusive All-In Mystery Set Tier on stream last week and many people were excited, we had some questions regarding the contents of the boxes. While we can’t tell you smurfxactly what is in it, as it is a mystery tier, we can say that in addition to the Smurfwillow tier that serves as the base for the Gargamel tier, there are all kinds of goodies smurfed in.

Some included items are available for purchase at the retail level; however, multiple items included in the box cannot be found anywhere else (thanks greatly in part to the generosity of The Smurfs Team). This means that while we cannot disclose the contents of the tier, this will be a smurfperience unlike any other Smurf fans have enjoyed before!

Some examples of what was included in our mystery tier when we did our Four Souls: Requiem campaign include signed DVDs and games from Isaac’s creator, cards from prototype copies of the game, out-of-print exclusive signed merch, custom doodles, and more! We take these tiers very seriously and ensure that backers get more than their money’s worth when they back :)

Poet Smurf Tier Add-On Issue Resolved!

As some of you have pointed out, we found an issue that disabled the ability to purchase add-ons with the Poet Smurf tier. In order to resolve this, we are going to “reset” the tier with the discovered fix. This means those of you who have backed this version of the Poet Smurf tier will need to reselect the newer version of Poet Smurf tier as we will shut down the first one. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this should fix the issues people have been running into!

Social Goals Update

Gargamel Tier is (Almost) Here!, Social Goal #1 Unlocked, and More!

Gargamel Tier Livestream!

That’s right. It’s finally here! Well, almost. We will be launching our Gargamel tier tomorrow!!! To celebrate this occasion and take some questions regarding gameplay, we will have a stream tomorrow at 7 PM EST featuring Jason Azevedo and Kevin Borrup. Both know the RPG inside and out, and so this will be the best time to get any of your burning questions answered!

As for what time the Gargamel tier will be live: This tier will launch 5 minutes before the stream starts so we can track the progress of this tier at the top of the stream!

“What’s in the tier?” I hear your asking. Well that is a smurfstery. We have partnered with Microids, Plastoy, Papercutz, RealmSmith and of course The Smurfs to bring you a wide variety of Smurfs products across multiple forms of media, some of which have never been available for purchase EVER.

Character Creation, A Link to Our Live Play, and update on Social and Stretch Goals!

Character Creation

For those who haven’t seen it before, today we will be showing off the character creation! Special shoutout to Kevin Borrup and Elias Koch over in our Facebook Designer Group for providing Truthful Smurfs, who we will use today to go over everything!

Step 1 is a name. A name is everything to a Smurf. It sets them apart from their fellow Smurfs and helps establish an identity with which to build around. You can create your own name or take inspiration from names included in the book! Truthful Smurf’s name is well… Truthful Smurf.

Step 2 is a motivation. A single smurftence will do as you are figuring out the guiding principle that makes your Smurf your Smurf! This is also a great thing to remember as you play, as your Storyteller can award you with Smurfberries for following your motivation! In Truthful Smurf’s case, he always tells the truth and always points it out to others, even if that might not be the most convenient for the group!

Step 3 is assigning attribute points to the four key attributes. These are Quick, Brawn, Mind, and Heart. These four characteristics help guide what your character is good at mechanically at the table - though of course you won’t always be doing what your Smurf is great at so be prepared to roll for each attribute in any given session! As you can see, Truthful Smurf excels at Heart rolls but may struggle with a Brawn or Quick roll.

Step 4 is choosing an advantage. You can create this on your own or take any of our pre-existing advantages, but this essentially gives your Smurf a specialty. In Truthful Smurf’s case, he gets +2 to mind rolls when determining the truth. Very on brand with his character!

Step 5 is your equipment! Each Smurf starts with one piece of equipment that can help them in a sticky situation. Truthful Smurf’s is a key, but it can be anything your heart desires!

Finally, step 6 is selecting your Smurfhouse! While not as consequential mechanically, you can get bigger and better houses throughout your smurfventures to return home to after a long hard day!

Tiers Deep Dive Part 1 + A Brand New Tier!!

Hello Friends,

Continuing to improve upon ourselves and answer questions from everyone, let's talk about tiers! We’ve got plenty of them so we’ll start at Clockwork Smurf’s tier and work our way up! This is the first of three updates on this topic. Stay tuned for more if you don't see your tier discussed here!

Clockwork Smurf’s Digital PDFs

For those of us who moved to online play for one reason or another, this is the tier for you! For $29, you will receive a full PDF of the core rulebook, (including all unlocked guest writer adventures!

One common question we’ve seen about this tier (and any tier since they all contain the PDFs) is whether or not we will release the PDFs before our July 2025 delivery date! We don’t have an exact date for when the core rulebook will be finalized. We are still working on content for the book and our guest writers need to, well, write. That being said, we will work to get this out to everyone as soon as we can!

BRAND NEW POET SMURF’S CORE RULEBOOK

You asked and we smurfed! We saw lots of comments asking for a tier with just the core rulebook and PDF in it. Poet Smurf has written a smurfterpiece, and he is ready to share it with the world!

BABY SMURF’S STARTER BOX

Do you want to bring the Smurfs to your table in all of their glory? This is the tier for you! It contains the starter box, the paperback version of the core rulebook, split into 3 booklets. Brainy Smurf’s Big Book of Rules is everything a player needs to be the best Smurf a Smurf ever did smurf! Papa’s Smurf’s Guide to Magic and Adventure is a Storyteller’s best friend. Finally, Smurfette’s Journal of Friends, Foes, and Far Away Places is everything in between! In addition to the starter box, you get the Smurfs dice set, 4 character sheets, and a double-sided map!

One common question we see regarding this tier is the differences between the Starter Box and the Core Rulebook. Content-wise, they are the exact same; however, as smurfed above, the Starter Box is a paperback version split into 3 smaller booklets.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

We’ve also added a brand new add-on! We saw some requests on our social media for the ability to purchase Brainy Smurf’s Big Book of Rules without having to buy additional starter boxes. Ask and you shall receive friends!

First 48 Wrap-up, Social Goal/Stretch Goal Update, and the Long Awaited Comparison Table!

Hello Friends,

We’ve had a smurfing good time in these first 48 (well 55ish really but who is counting?) hours and we are excited to see how much this campaign has grown in that time! Let’s look back and see what we’ve accomplished so far :)

What Has Happened So Far?

A lot. Like a lot a lot. Even before this campaign was just a thought from Papa Smurf during story time, The Smurfs Team and Maestro Media have spent over a year getting things ready for this Kickstarter. In more recent and relevant times, we have already hit 4 stretch goals! These have unlocked two exciting guest-written modules from Clint McElroy and Rob Wieland as well as a standee and terrain pack! These can either be bought as an add-on or obtained in any of the All-In Tiers! Smurfultaneously, we have begun to see submissions for our social goals and are well on our way to unlocking Wild Smurf as a playable character! Finally, we’ve also seen 112 comments and reached nearly 900 backers! Oh, and over 850 backers got a free copy of Smurfs: Hidden Village by backing in the first 48 hours!

Reminder: What are Stretch Goals?

Again for those who just joined us who may be asking, “What are stretch goals?” we’ve got you covered.

Stretch goals are a great way to reward everyone for supporting our project. The goal is for the campaign to become funded (which we have!! Yippee!). After funding, we have the green light to manufacture and sell the game; however, stretch goals allow us to stretch beyond our original goal (see what we did there?). The further we eclipse our funding goal, the more cool stuff we can add to our smurftastic game! These extras can range wildly in what they are. As the campaign progresses, we will continue to reveal and unlock various things like guest writers whose modules will be added to the book, upgraded components/add-ons, and more!

Stretch Goals #1-#4 Complete!

We’ve already raised to over $113k, unlocking and we are smurfing towards $125k as we speak. For those who missed it, here is what's unlocked so far and what is to come!

The Long Awaited Comparison Table!!!

As promised yesterday, we have updated the Kickstarter page with a comparison of what you get in the various tiers! For those of you here though, here is a look at it in its full glory!
